  • sorry but that cant be right, those are the oracle results
  • Are these the superlative rankings from Oracle phase? The first and second rank leaders are the ones from Oracle rather than Smuggler, and in Vale (for example) the top 3 alliances on the superlative list aren't even ranked in the top 100 in the region this phase.
  • I can't speak to all of the data posted, but at least some of it is definitely correct for this phase with no chance of it being from Oracle. Perhaps certain superlatives are accurately pulling data and others aren't.

more likely they noticed the issue when the other players pointed it out, and edited the post to show the correct info (which it does show the post has been edited).

    which one?
  • Greetings Bannermen!
Unfortunately, there was an error in the data tables for Westerlands this phase and the results from that region were incorrectly reported throughout the phase. We are recalculating the Final Results for Westerlands and will have the correct standings posted this morning. Our apologies for this error. We're looking into what went wrong this time and will have a fix in place ahead of the next phase.
  • When are results reported? Doubling from day 4 to final results seems highly unlikely. It would require 9 straight hours of 100% win rates.

LMAO..........westerlands and westerlands only, yeah right.

would depend on how many of the members had actually been engaged in the specific action before....at one point in time in the guild I was in we changed from from trying to rank as high as possible to everyone in the region only doing the specific action.

I'm calling total bull crap on those new westerlands results and put up back the old results so we can compare (I find it highly improbable that after being told results were being reported wrong on the 1st day, db goes and makes sure to get the right results (or apparently not), only to come back after all is said and done and say "hey wait, these aren't the right results for one and only one region), either none is wrong are they are likely all wrong at least all the ones that are based on winning the action..............db just when I start to like you, you pull shady **** as usual.
  • Hi NN, and all concerned about the results in Westeros. We very much understand your frustration; after all, what could have happened to make us change it after the last day? The truth is, a player pointed out this morning that the Superlative was being calculated as all Fight actions for entire Alliances and not per participant, as intended. This literally happened because a comma got left out in a query table. As I have explained in previous posts, Superlatives are calculated outside the main code of the game and those calculations do involve some manual steps. As a result, occasional errors happen. We hope you will understand, and accept our apology for the mistake.

Incidentally, I personally removed the previous days results (which were in the tens of thousands, quite impossible for individual players) so as not to cause even further confusion by our error. We only re-ran the final results since those are the ones that matter to achieve the Superlative Title. I regret if that came across as shady.

Let me know if you have any further questions on this issue. We do want to make the results as understandable as possible--even if we do need to correct our mistakes from time to time.

Okay. Can someone explain how you calculated the results for WL. Please.
Did you take all the fight attacks in WL and divide them by the players there or throughout the whole region?
Did you take all fight attacks in all regions and divide them by the participants throughout the whole region?
    What did you do?

Interesting, because none of the results struck me as impossible for the alliances involved given their size at the time.

Thoros now has 10 members, are those 10 members actually the only ones who participated in AvA, Dontos isn't even in the top 10 anymore (and no I'm not a member of Dontos).

Also your calculating the numbers by dividing it by the number of participants, has absolutely nothing to do with the raw numbers that were posted (I'm not talking about the final result numbers, but the raw number of won fights an alliance had sent out....those numbers that were in the 60k to couple hundred thousands) so there is no reason for the raw numbers to be removed, which is funny since earlier I was going to post telling you guys it's confusing to do it that way (since it doesn't mean number one will end up number one in the end), but now I'm very interested in seeing those numbers.

Edit: Dontos is in crows not west, but the point remains.
  • Hi. Good question, and we're going to update the wording moving forward to try and make it more clear. The 'Per Participant' Superlatives in each phase are always calculated by using the total number of Alliance membersparticipating in that phase, regardless of which regions they spend their time in.

So for WL, our corrected results show the total number of successful Fight attacks in WL divided by the total number of Alliance members participating in the phase.

    Hope that helps.
  • NNNN ✭✭
I think we all understand that's how its done it's suppose to be done, I believe the interest was in how you screwed it up, that now caused a big drop in certain guilds numbers.

and yeah I call total bull because judging by the raw numbers that were originally posted, a couple guilds should have far more than the number indicated, Idk how the heck you guys divide stuff.

Taking the screen shot of 11/20 results for KotWR of 88,943 and dividing it by our war participants of 93 we get a number of 956 fight attacks per participants in AVA and that isn't even the end of the phase. Check your math!

by that I assume you mean whichever daily result was last posted on 11/20...........think the final results showed 100-200k or something.

Yeah I'm really wonder where this comma was placed that turns what was like 2k points into less that 900+ (that doesn't seem like a misplaced comma to me), and at 93 participants it couldn't be that there was 100 members and the other 7 members caused the average to be cut in half (because that makes no sense)
on the other hand if they had 100 but only 93 participated, then that means their average number would have gone higher.

tell you what why not post back the number of fight attacks the alliances won in the region and then we can just have the alliances post a screen shot of their participating member count..........or you can go ahead and tell us how many they had, and we will go ahead and calculate it ourselves.
  • TWR final total (by my records - not DB) was 203,932. Divide by 93 participants = 2,193 per participant.
Thanatos final total was 63,695. Divide by 9 participants = 7,077 per participant.

Interesting, well since brim won't put up back the numbers......I'll have to wait for @Shan to show or a forum member who screens hotted it to get the numbers......but if that's the case then with only a total of 10 members in Thanatos there would have been no calculation (whether using amount of participants, or using total amount of members in the guild) that would have not placed them at 1st.....or they claiming to have divided all the numbers by 100?? again IDK since the previous tallies were shadily removed.

Either way how can we trust any result db now puts forwards, when they have failed to give a valid explanation of why the numbers don't match up to what they should be.

Edit: brim (short for brimaester) not bright
  • Are you effing kidding me? Well this is absolute bullcrap. As a member of KotWR, we made key strategy decisions based on the numbers you posted here. I, like pretty much everyone else, including DB itself, didn't notice DB's screw-up with the numbers being too high to be accurate. Thanks for supposedly awarding and then stealing away our superlative, DB. Great job. Real classy of you. Is "Bait and Switch" your official business model? Or is that just a fun perk for loyal customers?

For those wondering, I think we were at 167k fights for the First Place posted Day 4 results. Unfortunately, I did not take a screenshot.

Can someone also explain to me, and this applies to every phase's superlative tables, how superlatives are supposedly posted around 15:00 EST each day (according to previous superlative threads), but there are 5 postings for a 4-day phase? The phase starts at 11:00 on Day 1. The results for Day 1 are posted after about 28 hours, Day 2 after 52 hours, Day 3 after 76 hours, Day 4 after 100 hours, and "Final" is somehow different from Day 4? The phase only lasts 96 hours, so what am I missing here? Where's all that extra time come from? This has been bugging me.

Interesting point..................also I'm still not convinced its somehow they didn't notice the numbers were too high, the numbers were very reasonable....now all of a sudden some guilds have lower points, but some have higher points (that can't be a numbers too high issue), also in such a case what cased the too high numbers, where did those come from?
Then there's of course the fact of how it supposedly only affected one region out of the 9...............yep totally fishy and shady.

P.S great way to screw with peoples holiday
  • Hello, team. I'm sure you have bigger fish to fry but would it be possible to see a top 10 or top 20 list of players in the Riverlands who killed the most SS for the Deadly Smuggler superlative?

Yes, I can explain it. It is indeed confusing, and has only been mentioned once or twice in the old forum. The actions and interim daily standings are counted up until midnight (US EST) of each day where Day 1 and Day 5 together make up a full 24 hours (they are split).
Day 1: 11:00am-00:00 (midnight) = 13 hours worth of play
Day 2: additional 24 hours (midnight to midnight)
    Day 3: 24 hours
    Day 4: 24 hours
    Day 5: (final standings): midnight - 11:00am = 11 hours
    Total: 96 hours = 4 full days

It doesn't matter when the standings are published, they are always as of the last midnight or End / final results. This may also explain why Day 1 to Day 2 standings usually see a large increase (more than doubled) and why the final results compared to Day 4 seem to have not added a full day's worth to the totals. I do not know why they chose this system of counting, probably has something to do with daily updates of the servers etc during the night, or date codes. It is what it is.

Furthermore, I think it would be best to include some form of calculation so the players and alliances (there are no 'guilds' in GoTA!!!) can verify the numbers with their own estimates and calculations. Why?? You say yourself the process is manual and there are often mistakes, which is more than true!

    - I would also like a clarification myself on how the number of participants are calculated as this is still a big mystery. I know it is 'all' participants in all regions within an alliance, but what constitutes a participant? An AvA button press? A camp donation? A silver drop? An action sent? All of the above?
There have been many cases in less than active alliances or in small alliances where alliance members who do not play AvA or send no actions at all are still counted as a participant, skewing the numbers (sometimes on purpose using an alt to sabotage another alliance' efforts in a per participant superlative).
    - I would also like some clarification on the rules / ToS as many times I have seen the per participant superlative titles go to an alliance which only consists of 1 player with 5 alts. That can't be the spirit of the competition, or the reason for having these superlatives competitions. The reason is/was according to me rewarding smaller alliances with a chance to compete and to get a title. A 1 player alliance is not an alliance. Bump the limit up to 10 or 15 minimum players please, then we can see if there is anyone who can really send out 15 accounts manually on 27 minute timers and without scripting. If so, then I will admit they definitely deserve a title!

...and thanks @NN for the Dontos mention, always appreciated ;)
Just to clarify, we were indeed in the Top10 in Crown superlative, but also # 3 in the Crown VP rankings. I don't know if the superlative 'bribe' numbers are correct or not, we weren't interested in those this time. We had 47 participants I think, and Bribe was not one of the most frequently used actions for us this phase, hope that helps to verify or correct the numbers. As it was a per participant title and we were active in several other regions as well, it is somewhat strange that we made the Top10 in the superlative. In all honesty though, I think only 2 or 3 alliances really go for these superlative titles anyway and after Day 1 the competition is usually already over and the rest drop out if there were any others besides the #1-3. One more reason to radically change this competition or to take a hard look at the 'per participant' ones at least. The winner only changes if the #1 ends up in the # 1 or # 2 spot in region VP. There isn't much of a competition after Day 1 if ever and as stated above the winner is usually a 1 player alliance with 5 alts. I have ended up in the # 2 spot before losing to one of those, and I have to say after that I decided to never ever try for one of the per participant titles again unless the rules change. I'm all for rewarding smaller alliances and including them / getting them more excited in AvA, but not in a way that supports cheating (misuse of alts/scripting) and which allows 1 large/experienced player to steal those titles away from them. In that case, what's the point of having these per participant superlatives in the first place?
