Hmm... no one with "To Boldly Go" in the reason field. Maybe a math error in the formula....

This is expected behavior, since you said the collection is presented as completed. There would be no purpose in keep scanning for new crew to fill an already filled collection, right?

    Hi @Leshy,
Thanks again for your continued work. I Just noticed Locutus of Borg has his dip and sec stats swapped. Not such a big change, he just came up as touch and go for a dip Sci voyage.

I now get my crew and other stats direct from the game with a script that can pick out some of these things if I work on it but I have not bothered so far since I use the bonus modified stats. Unmodified stats can be provided so it would check crew against the wiki. There is also another project that grabs data from the wiki directly to compare it. Can do other things like show ship abilities for crew and auto fill in the required data for crew you have.

Finally, I also modify my display name of the crew to include a hyperlink direct to the wiki which works in most cases. and is useful to check stats. Example for Locutus... =HYPERLINK("https://stt.wiki/wiki/"&SUBSTITUTE(Stats!$A437," ", "_"),Stats!$A437)
  • Perusing the Stats page, it looks like there are a few blanks. I'm guessing that you are aligning Timelines Originals with the series that the character is originally from. In that case, here are the characters that would need updated:

    Augment Commander O'Brien - DS9
Lt. Commander Uhura - Movies (ST:TMP)
    Mirror Data - TNG
Mirror Geordi La Forge - TNG
    Mirror K'Ehleyr - TNG
Redjac Jaris - TOS (Wolf in the Fold)
    The Guardians of Tomorrow
Protecting the Galaxy's Future from itself
  • Leshy, thank you for all of your hard work on this important tool. Could you add Tichy's instructions (on pg 24 or 25) for copying data from an old sheet to a new version to your OP? That would help Excel dullards such as myself. ;)

    I found a Weird bug:
When entering a variant event crew, it seems that incomplete crew members for ex: 2/4 Dominion Dukat when choosing Dukat is not marked as an Event Crew.

Note: I notice I unchecked "include uncollected crew" so it seems incomplete crew are considered uncollected. Is that normal?
  • I cannot duplicate that issue on my current copy (3.20) @Sylv1De. The only reason for the crew to not show up as event is if I have the minimum crew rarity set higher than the crew's level.

Did you check the "Active" column in the Crew sheet? If I don't do that for incomplete crew, it does indeed not show them as Event Crew if the "Include uncollected crew" isn't ticked.

Thanks for the remarks! Fixed Locutus' stats for next version, and including the links to the STT wiki.

I have tried avoiding it as much as possible for non-canon crew, but it is possible some have been filled in. As far as I can tell from the traits listed on DataCore, these crew actually do not have their series trait in-game either. I would like to align as much as possible with what the game does, as such crew would also not be eligible for events in that case.

I would say that SpukkZ' suggestion is the most likely – if you did not check the Active column, that is exactly what would happen. The game would consider that you did not have the crew yet (but merely wanted to see the recommendations for that crew at 2 stars) and with uncollected crew not included in the Event listing, Dukat would then not be marked as such.

However, when looking into the issue I did discover by incredible chance a completely unrelated and fairly obscure other bug, which is now fixed. So thanks at any rate!
  • Little fix for when you've time: I've noticed my Grilka is marked as voyage CMD/MED and her skills are listed as CMD/SEC. Both seem incorrect (she's DIP/CMD/SEC). I was surprised that it isn't telling me to airlock her, tbh, because I normally have to mark her as keep to avoid that.
  • LeshyLeshy ✭✭✭
That sounds particularly weird - any chance you can share a copy of your sheet? I can then have a look at what is going on. Grilka seems fine on my 3.20 copy.

You both are right. I use the star column without checking active for my incomplete crew. I don't seem to use the sheet as intended so it is not a bug. Thanks for clarifying. (and for an incredible work Leshy)

This is... weird. She seems to have corrected herself! Either I was dreaming things or maybe I had changed a filter that took longer than usual to update...?

Either way, cancel yellow alert. We can now return to our regular Grilka-being-awful programming.

Once again, thanks for the great work.
On the settings sheet, under Set Starbase/Collection Bonuses:
I think 'Base' should be replaced by 'Core', which is the terminology used in the game.
  • Thanks for the updates! One question; when did you add the hyperlinks to the wiki? I just noticed them...

Looks like they were added in the latest version as per the changelog (and the fact they weren't there in 3.20):
The names of the crew on the Crew tab now link to their pages on the STT wiki. Thanks for the idea, Phantum!
  • I checked my Voyage Eng/Med crew and noticed that several mebers with only one of the skills are my best in that category.
    5/5 Prisoner Katrina Cornwell
    4/5 Etana Jol
    4/5 Determeined Janeway
    4/5 Q as God

There might be something wrong or my Med/Eng roster is so bad, that even with just one of the skills those 4 are better than anyone else.
My 4/4 Lewis Zimmermann and 4/4 Rianna Mayweather are both rated worse.

    Cheers

And Version 3.21 is now available. Upcoming crew are in, and the sheet now also shows the best voyage crew for each skill combination.

Many thanx for the update ... quick wiki links are very nice addition ..
    thnx for the upgrade credits

The advice row can do some odd things indeed ...
Apparently my FO Burnham (5*) with CMD / SCI / SEC produces the following advice on my roster
Best 5* CMD Base, Best Active CMD Base, Best Active SCI Base, Best Active CMD Average, Best Active SCI Average, Voyage Crew: CMD/SCI, CMD/MED, SEC/SCI, Best 5* Voyagers: CMD/SCI

Apparently here CMD prowess is so awesome, she even gets some mad MED skillzzz..
It seem she is so awesome, she even beats out my other MED cards ( Bond Bashir, Dark Bashir,Delta Paris, God Q and InYourFace Cornwell , Capt Beverly and Dr Culber)

    Cryptic........

Edit. Noticed a few more purple cards ( and some 1* gold cards) as voyage upgrade which i have not completed yet .. will be interesting to see what their usage will be when i prioritise finishing these during this Skirmish weekend.

The sheet calculates Voyage scores for any skill combination of which a crew has at least one matching skill. Both First Officer Burnham and Q as "God", for example, will thus get a score for CMD/MED voyages.

In most cases, crew with only a single matching skill will quickly be outclassed by crew who have both skills. In both mentioned cases of MED/ENG and CMD/MED, however, there are only very few crew with both skills. In those cases, crew with only a single matching skill are more likely to be recommended and may indeed contribute more to a Voyage than worse-rated crew with both matching skills.

Out of the crew @JiveDutch mentioned, Captain Beverly Crusher and Delta Flyer Paris do actually score higher than First Officer Burnham for CMD/MED Voyages (at the same fuse status), as they are crew with both CMD and MED skills. The other crew may be good at MED, but they also do not have any CMD skill to bring to the table, so they would not necessarily be better for a CMD/MED voyage than First Officer Burnham.

When plugging in the Prisoner Katrina Cornwell and Rianna Mayweather @Fabs mentioned into a voyage calculator using ENG/MED as skill combination, Prisoner Katrina Cornwell on her own gives an estimated voyage time of 2:35. Rianna Mayweather gives 2:25 estimated voyage time. So despite not having both skills, Cornwell should add more time your voyage than Rianna will and may be the better choice.

Of course, Voyages do not depend only on the stats of a single crew in a vacuum. Doing a full simulation of a fully staffed voyage is outside of the scope of this sheet, however. In these cases though, I think the results are fairly okay. Happy to revisit and see if the scores can be made more accurate where necessary, however.

A suggestion for the Introduction sheet - Number of crew:
    =counta(Crew!$B5:$B) & "/" & counta(Crew!$A5:$A)

This would then show # found / # total.

And if you could add the total active crew members too, that would be a helpful for checking if you've marked Active correctly in the Crew sheet.

Once again, thank you Leshy and everyone else for all you do to maintain this important tool. I went to upgrade to the new sheet and ran into two problems:

First, when I went to copy/paste the active and keep columns, I found that certain crew were already selected as "keep." For example, Captain Kang was selected, even though I don't have Kang.

Second, despite clearly highlighting to the bottom of the list, copying and then highlighting to the bottom of the list again, the paste only goes part of the way down the crew list.

I've upgraded my sheet several times before and not encountered this. I'm sure I'm doing something to cause it, but I'm hoping someone will be able to point towards a fix. I'm still using 3.20 until I can get this sorted out.

For context, note that I started in settings, moved to missions and then to crew in updating the spreadsheet.

@CigAros_DK: Thanks for the suggestions, will have a look and see if I can add something!

Indeed, Commander Kang and Mirror 'Smiley' O'Brien were checked as 'Keep'. They must have accidentally not been unchecked when removing all data from the development version of the sheet. Have done so now.

Well, it is normal that the paste will not go all the way down to the bottom, as the crew list in the new version will be a little bit longer due to the newly added crew. How far down does your copy-paste end up going?

Leshy, thank you for your quick and kind response. I downloaded a new copy of the sheet and went straight to crew. I sorted names from A-Z and sorted the version from A-Z. I copied the active and keep columns down to the last line.

In the new sheet, I also sorted names from A-Z and version from A-Z. I highlighted down to the last name, which is the crew you just added in this version. I hit cntl-V to paste, but the paste only went as far as line 292, which is Tailor Garak.

I also tried just copying the 3.20 data to 3.20 on the new sheet, but it still stops at line 292. Lastly, I tried using copy and paste under the "Edit" dropdown and got the same result.

That sounds quite odd, and as far as I can tell things work fine for me.

Are you sure that you do not have any filters on in either the old or new version that end up hiding some of the rows?

In addition, you also should not need to select any cells in the new version, except for the topmost left one. Eg. if you are copying columns E and F (Active and Keep), you could just select cell E5 and hit CTRL-V there, or CTRL-SHIFT-V to only past the values.

Edit: Otherwise, can you share a copy of your 3.20 sheet? I can then have a look and see what's going on, if anything.
  • Leshy, I'm so sorry! I double-checked my 3.20 spreadsheet and it did have a filter applied. If Shan would like to delete my posts and your responses, no objection from me.

And if you could add the total active crew members too, that would be a helpful for checking if you've marked Active correctly in the Crew sheet.

In the older versions of the sheet i used such a counter to keep track of proper filling of the sheet ( count should match my active crew roster count )

With the newer sheets i ran into issues doing this, and you will need to plan your "counters" accordingly.

The B coll is used for fusion count ... there sheet currently requires a card to be FE before FF for calculations to work correctly , if you enter the final fusion number for a card that is not yet FE, then the sheet will make incorrect assumptions, therefore i found it is currently easiest to keep it blank if you have a FF card that is not yet FE.

Any card you mark as active, is assumed to be FE at the fusion level from col B , so that also gives incorrect an count.

The common use is for the NOTES coll to be used to keep track of card level and status ... it is probably easiest to count that for an "accurate" count of you entire roster capabilities.
I assume therefore that you would want a entire crew count .... your entire roster count, and your active count .... so .. total Col A / total Col G / Col G - Frozen ...

Any G-calc wizz out there that can craft that formula ...

    edit. this should work.
    =counta(Crew!$A5:$A) & "/" & counta(Crew!$G5:$G) & "/" & counta(Crew!$G5:$G) -countif(Crew!$L5:$L, "F")& "/" & countif(Crew!$L5:$L, "=F")

    On my sheet ... All/Roster/Active/Frozen 791/599/397/202

And apparently i have a few ticks missing somewhere, since 397 doesnt match my 400 roster count :D

Edit2 -- I was overlooking my duplicate Armus, Mirror Picard and Prof Sato... which do get regular voyage and shuttle work even at low * counts
