I had a look and decided against implementing additional counters for total crew discovered, and active crew for now. Since the sheet does not track any non-FE crew, the results for these counts would likely be inaccurate.

The Notes column could indeed help, but different people use it in different ways, so it is impossible to get reliable information from it. The suggested formula to calculate active crew by JiveDutch would work for his sheet, for example, but not for mine, as I only use the Notes column to keep track of specifically non-FE crew. And it may again be different for other users.

I may look into providing some other stats, however, when I have a bit more time, and if I think they might be an interesting addition.

For now, I have just quickly added the upcoming crew for this week and the next weekend event.
  • Thanks Leshy!

  • @Leshy I simply created another sheet (didn't want to mess with the Stat sheet), then put another column on the Crew sheet with a lookup function. About every two weeks or so, I review the BBoB (https://datacore.netlify.com/bb/) and update my tier data.

I would love to have that function in my sheet, too, but I don't know how to import the tier data from the external souce.
Could you describe how you import the tier data into your DNA sheet, please?
  • Within my fleet, we’ve been discussing ways to display the BBoB tier on our crew to help decide who to airlock. For example, I have 30 1/4* crew at level 1. I’d love a tool that allows me to quickly decide which of those 30 are worth keeping.

You can use this page to parse your player json and export a CSV of your crew with all stats including the tiers: https://datacore.app/voyage

I created a separate sheet and built references to it on my crew page. You can take a look at it if you like. I PM'd you a link

    Mind blown

One thing though. The crew.csv export shows a lot of crew as In Portal=False when they are available in the portal.

The Immortal column threw me for a minute; I surmised that it was actually vaulted instead of just immortalized. I didn't know that I had two sniper Erzis and two Odos.

In addition, the DataCore author also posted earlier in the thread, saying that a full csv file including the tier ranks is available at https://datacore.netlify.com/structured/crew.csv.

It is obviously not customised to your specific crew, but it's also immediately accessible without the extra steps of logging in and copying/parsing a json file. If you just want to grab the tier numbers for all crew, it is easiest to do it from there.

    Question for your contemplation...

Is it an idea to swap Col B & D around on the crew tab .... doing so would ease conversion between sheets, as you can then select Col B to G in 1 select and paste

Does this make sense to do, or does it make a huge mess for everybody else ??

The short version of what I want to say is that your voyage calculations are off. In the "Stats" sheet, for each stat (ex: Command) your Mod Avg (BN) is calculated not off the two preceding columns, Mod Min (BL) and Mod Max (BM) but off Mod Min and Max (column K, way back at the beginning of the sheet with the raw values). This lowers the actual value.

Side note: the stats for Sarina are old/wrong/off, but changing the thing above and updating these stats makes your formulas work with my actual in game values ,within rounding errors.

Edit: Though i'm still not sure what your "max" columns/calculations are designed to do, since they are smaller than the "current" values. I think it's because the "max" calculations reference the raw stats but the "current" calculations reference the modified stats?

I would love the idea of selecting only one region for easier sheet upgrades, but I think this particular solution would be VERY counterintuitive.

Perhaps keeping B:D structure as it is, and moving these three cols to the end of upgrade-required region would be a little easier (resulting in copying cols B:E), but I don't know how that would make input and visualization worse.

I didn't think about that, since I actually keep track of both my FE and non-FE in the sheet...
This helps me prioritize which crew equip in order to achieve various goals.

Would actually love a (check/uncheck) FE column...

  • Leshy, I'm wondering if you or one of the other more experienced Captains can help me understand something about the sheet. I've been working on leveling Laas. When he was less than FE, the sheet reflected as if I didn't have him at all. It gave me a "Space" recommendaton, which suggests to me that with my current crew, I don't need him.

However, when I reached FFFE and marked him active, it gave me a recommendation that he meets a mission need (along with Lt. Ariam).

I'm not following why the initial recommendation would change. Can you help educate me?

I've always understood/experienced the sheet not explicitly citing a "need" for a mission if you have at least one other active crew that can pass the same node. so the previous "Space" recommendation was correct, since you don't *need* Laas to pass the node, but now that you have marked him as active, he can clear the node and it shows you that. Similarly, if you would Freeze him, you should not get an Unfreeze recommendation as long as you have other active crew which can pass the mission node.
  • Spukkz, thanks for that explanation. I guess I then wonder what triggers the "space/freeze" recommendation.
  • USS Dart: Contrary to Spukkz, I think that the program evaluates how powerful they are at the moment, to tell you what they are good for now. So when you got your 2 star char, they might not be enough to clear the node, but at 4 star they will be. When they have no stars, the program will tell you their potential, but it's the full potential FFFE. Collections are the only ones that stick around based on potential (and then disappear once you've FFFE), everything else only shows up once you can do that thing.

Eriond75, I hear what you're saying. So that I'm clear for anyone who may be reading, the sheet gives me a recommendation on each crew member, whether they have any stars or not.

For example, if I have Eriond75 as a 2/4, level 40, I do not enter anything on the sheet. As far as the sheet is concerned, I don't have him/her. Despite this, the sheet will often give a "space" recommendation. As I explained upstream, I've understood that to mean that at FFFE, he/she is not any better than what I already have.

Since the recommendations are based upon FFFE, if he/she is not any better than what I already have, why would that change once the crew is FFFE?

Spukkz explained it correctly: when you did not have Laas, you did not need him for anything. The mission that he is eligible for, was already covered by your Lt. Airiam, so the sheet told you that you could safely airlock Laas if you got him. When you eventually immortalised him and entered him into the sheet, it told you that as a crew member now on your active roster, he could complete that particular mission for you.

Eriond75 is incidentally also correct, in that if you enter a crew as 2/4, they may not meet the same requirements as they do at 4/4, so the recommendations will also differ. However, I do not think that you did that in this particular case.

To answer your other question, there are basically six possible scenarios:

Crew is active, and meets remaining requirements: Active
Crew is active, and does not meet remaining requirements: Space/Freeze
Crew is frozen, and meets remaining requirements: Unfreeze
Crew is frozen, and does not meet remaining requirements: Frozen
Crew is unobtained, and meets remaining requirements: Need
Crew is unobtained, and does not meet remaining requirements: Space

You can set the 'Mark as keep' checkbox to override the recommendations 'Space/Freeze', 'Frozen', and 'Space'.

And as per above for the episode missions: if you have an active crew member who can complete that mission, unobtained and frozen crew will no longer have that mission counted towards their requirements.

  • My recommendation is ... always enter the stars of a card you have in the crew sheet untill a card is fully fused and is not yet fully equipped, then remove the stars count untill you complete the card, then refill the stars count and mark the card as active ( untill you freeze it again ).

Due to calculation and stat restrictions this seems to currently be the best way to fill and get recommendations.

My usage in this is as follows ..
    • Ff/Fe - Active marked, notes say FE, fusion is filled
    • 3/Fe - Active marked, notes say FE , fusion is filled
    • 3/90 - Active unmarked, notes say cardlevel, fusion is filled
    • 4/90 - Active unmarked, notes say card level, fusion empty

I will only mark a crew as active when it is FE, as the recommendations are reliant on the card fusion levels this is the most accurate for crew potentials.

The current sheet makes the following assumptions
    • Any card that has a fusion number is treated at that fusion level, any card no fusion number is treated as Fully Fused for calculations.
    • Any card that has no number in fusion or a check in active is treated as unowned, recommendations on those cards are done at FF/FE stats.

As of this post, i have 25 crew on my roster as Work in Progress, ( notes Col helps me keep track of all cards not FE )
8 of these are 4* cards , 4 are FF with 2 space and 2 improvements when they are finished.
My 1* Nexus Guinan is already telling me it would provide a potential boost to my voyage Med pool ( at 1* Fully Fused )

The definitive way to determine this is in the game itself. Search for each name in the Cryostasis Vault and see if the other appears alongside those with the search term. This does not address special Event one-offs, though, e.g. Sela/Yar. 🖖

    JiveDutch:

I think you may be using the sheet the way I'd like to use the sheet - to help me manage who to airlock before I expend resources on them and manage crew slots. I think I understand your example above but need to reduce it to the absurdly simple to be sure I understand:

    4* crew JiveDutch

If I do not own him/her, fusion is empty, active is empty.

When I get him/her as a 1/4, active is empty, notes indicate card level, fusion is filled. This remains until I get the card to 4/4.

If/when I get him/her to 4/4 but before FE, active remains empty, notes indicate card level, but fusion is unmarked until FE.

    Is this correct?

    Yes .. this is correct...
This is how it currently looks on my end .. (filtered to only show Work in Progress)
apologies for the weird insert ...

Keep-marked shown are the cards i currently have set as favorite to work on ,these change between events if i dont complete a card it gets " downgraded"

As shown ... Cyrus is a non-FE but fully fused card, neelix & guinan are non-FE and non-FF cards.
My notes-coding is cardlevel_bigbooktier .. i use this on purple cards as a fast marker to select freezing cards when i get something new.
As counts .. i currently have 222 Purple FE cards on my active roster , still have some i need stars on .. and 6 non-FE
This sheet and my "method" really helped me in building strategy .. now i only have 21 cards left to equip, and 1 or 2 new cards a week to work on.
My working priorities were .. collections then voyage then gauntlet while pushing event crew inbetween these ( last event crew i pushed was for the last mega)

Can someone please explain the rationale of the new feature where best voyagers are ranked by (rarity AND skill) instead of (skill)? AFAICT the sheet used to display the best available crew so I could always know who I needed and who I could safely freeze or airlock, but now I'm getting tons of 3* and 4* recommendations for crew I never use (in voyages), including recommendations to unfreeze crew I definitely won't use (in voyages).

I realize I can select the minimal rarity in the setup tab, and it helps to keep those pestering 3* crew at the vault. But if I setup the voyage recommendations in such a way I only see legendaries, I won't get the best recommendations for my current roster. An example would be when some 4/4 is better than a similar skill-set 1/5 I happen to have. I always interpreted the rarity setup as being used to reduce the ammount of calculations performed by the sheet.

    What am I missing here?

@leshy just a curiosity question.... How much time does it take to maintain these sheets? I've been pondering creating a variant of some of these various sheets that exist to help for the the way I play and I was wondering what I'd be getting myself into. Thanks
  • dext74dext74 ✭✭✭
@Leshy - sheet question. I just created an Evolved Janeway. I do not have Mutated Paris immortalized, but the sheet still is saying "Need - can be used to create Evolved Janeway" even though I already have one.
