  • I am not very good at editing this thing myself. Can someone give me a quick walk-through on how to make it tell me which crew has the best overall stats, as in total irrelevant of type? I just cryo'd a crew member as suggested by the sheet and had to immediately bring them back for a voyage. Seems they were one of my best security crew with 3 stats and the sheet doesn't take that into account when suggesting, just top 4 in that stat period. Just wondering if maybe a formula to check for the top 12 total stats might help but I am still too new to the game to even know if that would help or not, let alone how to set it up in the sheet.
  • It's not set up for 3 stat-checks, but I usually set the base skill check number for each skill to 5 in the Advanced Settings tab (default is 4). That gives a little more buffer, because between shuttles, voyages and gauntlet, it takes a lot of crew. You should also always use your own judgement about what crew you are using and who you aren't, rather than relying purely on the spreadsheet, it's just a tool.

    Hope that helps.
  • May have found a bug--so, for example, I have completed common crew collection. On the collections tab, this is shown as complete and the remaining imcomplete crew (Maquis Chuckles, Rainbow Sweater Crusher, for what it's worth) are greyed out. However, on my crew tab, both still show as "Need" for reason--Cryo Collections. I like that they still show as greyed out (for completist purposes), but on the main list, think they should be listed with the other space fodder, as they serve no purpose in the game.

Thanks for all your hard work on this! Super helpful.
  • Best Selling Author Jake Sisko should probably be "Jake" and not "Sisko"
  • Hi Leshy,

thanks a lot for this awesome spreadsheet. It helps so much.
I started to change values on the Stats tab to account for nut fully fused crew and use the Data tab to check who I level next. While doing so, I found two bugs.
    1. Data Tab: Smiles and Knives has a wrong value it should be =544*$E$2 but there was something above 1000 in there.
    2. Stats Tab: When required success rate 50-74% is selected the Check Value is O, but it should be O+I
  • Just a thought as my crew grows, for my gameplay, in case it is instructive to anyone else: the chart's format undervalues 3 skill SR crew with good but not great numbers across the board (think Cyrus Redblock, Buster Kincaid Kim and eventually Torchbearer Voq who are all useful for Voyages) , and overvalue 2 skill SR crew who have a high Base or Roll, but are not great for voyages or gauntlet (Vic Fontaine, Bajoran Dukat) and are generally replaceable for factions. I adjust for this in my head, but it might be useful to add like a top 10 Voyage total as another reason to need or keep crew active. Voyages are now such a critical piece of gameplay and crew construction, that it seems like a blind spot.
  • I think a similar request was raised a few pages before. IIRC the answer was in line with "too difficult to implement, how to make a rating, max crew is good enough"
  • Understood. I think my suggestion was somewhat simpler to implement, and not skill-sensitive or processor heavy--just import a total voyage score for each character, and then list as keep the characters with the top 10 voyage scores (and needs for characters who would fit in your top 10) irrespective of skill combos. I've personally ameliorated some of the issue by tweaking the advanced options, but newer players may use chart a little more dogmatically.

I'm hugely appreciative of the work that goes into this, so no worries either way.

The key to what you are asking for is that its based on "What is my current best in voyages. While a very valid thing to know, the sheet is based on level 100 FF stats. Even raising the settings to keep more top cards per skill, it's still based on FF (one of the key disclaimers Leshy has on this sheet).

To give you what you ask would require the sheet knowing the stats of every card at every level, then having the user (each of us) load the current level into the sheet. Something that's technically possible, but would take an obscene about of number loading and formula building to pull off without an equal amount of gained knowledge and use.

The catch with voyages is total skill points and the balance of those points relative to primary, secondary and tertiary skills for the day. The other sheet in Ready Room of the Level 100 stats can give you the best voyage crew you currently own once they are FF/FE, which may assist you in looking into who you want to level next.

There is also @Chewable C++ voyage calculator that helps balance your skills within the crew selection (having the right balance in the primary/secondary stats).

My point is basically that in any moment of time, you don't need to be as nuanced in the skill tracking compared to other things. There are tools available that assist in planning for an efficient voyage. Getting an extra few minutes only matters if you are close to a dilemma.

This is not what I'm asking for at all. I understand the mechanics and limitations of this checklist tool. I am not suggesting that it incorporate my entire list of crew, only at fffe.
My comment arose from many comments and questions on this thread, as they count on this tool to tell them which crew they should keep active, airlock, seek and freeze. Without accounting for voyage stats, it has a bit of a blind spot, and requires some mental gymnastics.
If I know who of my crew (which I told the checklist that I own fffe) have the highest total voyage score (and the crew that I either don't have, or don't have fffe who would have a higher score), that info is useful as I decide what to do with my crew. Some three skill crew is good for voyages, but not necessarily the highest base or proficiency.
Hope that makes sense. If this is too difficult, I understand, because I'm hugely appreciative of the work that goes into this. But I don't want my request misconstrued as requesting it to analyze my non fffe crew.

    @Roland 359

Sorry for the misunderstanding! In reflecting, I now better realize what you are asking for from Leshy. Still, there is no way to be 100% due to the rotating nature of Voyage skill preferences. It would be easy enough to have a stat for each character with their total skill points since that is what's used in voyages. The difficulty in terms of setting up a recommendation is that what makes a character the best one day makes them not best the next due to the shifting priorities of skill bonus.

If anything, being able to flag say, the top 10 in "Best Total Skill Point" characters will help some from making a mistake of airlocking a character that will pay dividends in voyages down the road.
  • @Muldorian

No worries. Exactly. I wasn't thinking about a tool about who to send on any particular voyage, just giving crew credit for having a high voyage score, so no one was airlocked based on this spreadsheet without that knowledge. How the various skills fit together and collectively add value, that's obviously our job to determine.
I think the Crew Spreadsheet has this list of total voyage points, but I use Leshy's spreadsheet more frequently for organizing and making decisions about my crew.

There hasn't been a new version since he was added to the game. I'm sure Leshy will get to it as soon as they have the time.
  • Thanks for posting this

Hey all, I've been quite busy over the past few weeks, so I have had little time to update the sheet. However, I have now added the newest crew and made the most recent changes and bug fixes - thanks again to all of you for reporting them: see version 2.03 in the OP!

There's one or two bugs that have not been addressed, as they require a bit more work or a bit more looking into how to best fix them, but they are still on the list, as are a few other features (I have not forgotten about your suggestion, Muldorian!)

Thanks for the discussion on Voyages, good stuff.

It would indeed be very easy to create a list of your 'highest total stat' crew, but they might be completely unevenly distributed. If the sheet essentially tells you that your five 1000 CMD, 1000 DIP, 500 SEC crew are awesome for Voyages while your 1200 MED, 1200 ENG crew is not... that would not exactly be helpful and could be rather confusing.
  • Thank you, Leshy! Klingon children will sing songs of your glorious feats for generations to come.

Interesting thought about voyages. You are right, of course. I was thinking that my 1200 Med/1200 Eng crew* would already be appreciated by the spreadsheet for high base or gauntlet scores, while my airlocked 2500 com/sec/dip crew would be deemed unnecessary because voyages aren't considered at all. But appreciate the consideration, maybe we can think of some rational but simple way to incorporate.
*which exists only in my dreams and your hypothetical.

Upgrading from version 2.02 to 2.03, I'm trying to follow the guidance in the worksheet that says sort by version. When I do that, the crew is not in the same order. Instead, I sorted both sheets by Name and then in the v2.03 copy, I filtered the Version column and unchecked the 2.03 value. I then copied my Active column (and would do Cryo'd too if I had any) from the 2.02 to 2.03 files, and that seems to have worked. If the way described in the sheet, to sort by version and then copy/paste does work, can you explain more how you expect it to work? I might/must be missing something. Thanks in advance and much appreciate all the work you've done for this.

I also think it would be great to have some voyages functionality, but my biggest new feature request would be for a page that shows you what your best crew are for the different stats (med, cmd, etc), and what their skill levels are for them, so that you can see where your holes are. E.g., best crew for skill XYZ is crew Fluffleguff, who has 800 XYZ, 700 ZZZ, and 450 ABC. [XYZ, ZZZ, ABC are like CMD, MED, SEC.] When you see those all together for all the skills, it makes it easy to see which skills you have at (e.g.) 1000, and which you only have crew that go up to 700. It would help inform decisions on where to focus your chrons and BEHOLD choices.

My number 2 feature request would be for a way for people to mark not just immortalized or not as a binary yes/no, but rather to allow people to specify the level and fused number of each crew owned. That way, you can see who can do what among the crew you have as they are today. Thanks again!
  • My 2 cents:

You have to sort 2.02 by name, and then version; 2.03 should already be by name, and then sort by version. Then they should match up. I was having trouble with this before, as my prior version was not sorted by name, so when I sorted by version, it didn't match the new version at all. Hope this helps. Rechecking your entire crew is a bear.

I like your first suggestion; it is similar to my voyages request. Probably somewhat challenging to implement, but maybe in some form. Poor Leshy, our beleaguered hero!

The second suggestion would be awesome, but such a build-challenge, would require basically a re-working of the entire spreadsheet to create something much bigger and complex than it is currently. People (myself included) have figured out work arounds to provide similar information. What I do (simple version), is if I have a SR or Legendary close to fffe, I mark with a y rather than an x. It skews the results a little, but in a way I understand, and shows me which of my y crew I should focus on. Earlier on this thread was a more complex format for accomplishing something similar and more detailed.

My idea for the non-binary system, which is still too much to ask, is to have a box for fe only. That way the spreadsheet knows who is gauntlet available on your crew, even if they're not immortalized. This is a common situation for Legendaries who sit at 1/5 fe.
  • Hey Leshy, really enjoy the spreadsheet. Noticed an issue with the 4* Lore and the Verge of Destruction mission. When I mark it that I have him, it says to freeze/space him even though the verge of destruction node isn't done yet. I have no other characters marked for the mission either. Wish I knew more about how it was all set up on the back end, sorry this is all I have.

I always sort both sheets by Version, then Stars, then Name. I make sure to sort my old sheet that way, and then I sort the brand new copy that way. I feel better knowing that with 3 levels of sorting, everything should line up just fine. (It's probably unnecessary overkill).

    Leshy,

Just a quick note to say thanks for providing a great product. Took me a minute or two to find the newest version (jumping through 3 different threads on different message boards). Keep up the awesome work!

I have been reading a large portion of this post but I cannot seem to find anywhere that tells you how to use the advamced settings. For example. I would like to figure out which 4* crew would be best for voyages, shuttles and gauntlet. I would also like to know which is the best of my crew that would be needed to complete episodes. I would like to do these individually (by # of stars or by activity) to avoid mix ups if possible. Lastly, I would also like to add the collection and starbase bonuses but where do I find the base %?

I really like this list and I think I could get more use out of it if I knew how to use the advanced settings
  • This is an amazing tool. Thank you for sharing your hard work with us!

I had one small issue where the headings (Row 1 - Name, Active, Cryo'd etc.) would come unlocked or unfixed. So for anyone else (like me!) who isn't very adept with computers, I found that if I highlight row 1 (the headers) and then go to "Help" in the menu and type in "row" you will get the option to "Freeze 1 Row". Still not sure what I did to unlock it in the first place. I've never used chrome sheets and thought others might be having the same issue.

Thanks again for all you do.
