OK gang, now that the galaxy event is over, let's have a little fun. While I realize this has potential to backfire in spectacular fashion, in the spirit of community building and just having a fun time, let's do this!

Ask a question, get an answer. I obviously reserve the right to conceal certain details (for example, I will not answer questions about my kids, address, SSN, etc) but everything else is fair game.

You can ask about game stuff, interests, pop culture, life experiences, anything you want to know! The stars are the limit!

Have fun, and don't be shy!

    1. Funny, but as that tongue twister was making the rounds in 3rd grade, as an ambitious 9 year old I turned it on its head, to which it became, "How much woodchuck, would Wood chuck, if Wood could chuck woodchuck?" As to the answer, I think believe it would be wise to assume woodchucks are already able to chuck wood :p

    2. Oh geez, that is tough. I think first I should acknowledge that DS9 is undoubtedly the "best", but for whatever reason my gut is telling me Voyager is my favorite, and I say that being fully aware of all the flaws. I just know that Voyager is the ship I'd want to be on, and Janeway is the captain I'd want to take orders from.

As to my favorite episide? My joke answer is "The Child" (TNG season 2, episode 1) because I thought it meant Dr. Crusher was gone! The real answer though is probably the two-parter Time's Arrow, although any Data-centric episode would work. Time's Arrow though gets bonus points for being clever, and for relegating Riker to the sidelines.

    3. You may not find this surprising, but once in my youth I actually spent an afternoon figuring that out. I used to have big issues with OCD and would count all my steps when I walked anywhere, so counting licks on a Tootsie Pop was in my wheelhouse. As part of my self-guided efforts to overcome my OCD I deliberately erased all my memories of counting various things so I am sorry to report I no longer know the answer, but hopefully you will be satisfied in knowing at one time I did solve it :)

I doubt such a thing exists, but I do think a lot of people overlook the idea that first above all else, it should be fun. Do not get bogged down with trying to impress other players with accomplishments or whatever, find what makes you happy and do that. Set a personal goal, and work toward it.

Actually, I do have an answer. This is a social game, that might not be obvious, but it is true. Players get out what they put in, so I think the "secret" is to engage with people. I hope that works for an answer, and if not I absolutely welcome follow ups :)

What is your current STT goal? What other goals do you have? What is your favorite card in each rarity? Which card, that you don't already have, are you most wanting to appear in your next BeGold?

    1. I've had the long term goal of being consistently awesome in Gauntlet, so that is my focus. I have made great strides in this area over the last 6 months, but I still have much work to do.

    2. Other goals? I'd like to get a stronger stable of 5* crew with good voyage combos, and I'd like to add stars to the ones I have already. At this point I can get to 8 hours pretty reliably, so now the goal is 9 hours.

    3. Hmm.

    1* Yeoman Rand
    2* EMH
    3* Smiley O'brien
    4* The Clown
    5* Boothby Replicant

    4. No contest: Locutus!

    1) Who are your two favorite Trek captains?
(I'm curious to see if anyone beats Janeway.)
    2) If all the Trek captains (who have appeared on TV) had a Royal Rumble, who do you think would win?
3a) If you were a Trek captain, which ship would you most want?
3b) Who would you pick as a first officer? (Assuming none of the captains would take a demotion)

An interesting question to start with!

In a lot of ways, I suppose the answer is versatility. I definitely fall into the category of "jack of all trades, master of none." I'd say my single greatest talent is having a near photographic memory. I never studied in school or took notes in class, I just memorized the lectures, read the course material as directed, wrote the papers required, took the tests, and graduated from university with a 3.3 GPA (back when 4.0 was the top).

In social settings I have a great talent at finding what the current group lacks, and becoming that. If the group needs a leader, I lead effortlessly. I we need a hard worker, I do that. I know enough about almost everything thanks to my memory that I fit in in pretty much any conversation; I can walk into a group of MMA fans and participate, quantum physics, etc.

I also think I missed my calling as a racecar driver, I have a REAL talent for driving fast! It's like I can see the proper lines in the road before I get there, it is hard to explain.

Before I had kids I considered trying to be a professional Magic the Gathering player, but I chose to give that up because I needed the money to take care of my family, although before I retired I did create something that changed the entire meta, which I believe is still going to this day despite having walked away bout 9 years ago! I've also been banned by a couple local casinos for card counting.

I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff. Feel free to ask follow up questions :)

Banned from a casino for counting cards is pretty bad A$$!! That’s so funny how you describe your memory cuz I tell people almost word for word the exact same thing. I never studied, took one note, none of that. And I had a 3.44

    1. Janeway obviously #1. As for 2, wow, I never thought I'd have to choose between Sisko and Picard. Or hell, even Archer. Actually, as silly as this sounds, I may actually pick Archer. Like Janeway, the writers were not kind to him, but I always admired the sheer joy he took in exploring, and the pride he took in being the captain of the first warp 5 ship.

    2. Sisko, easily. The only way he loses is if the others gang up on him!

3A. I'd probably be most at home on Archer's Enterprise, or The Defiant.

    3B. Data, no question.

Ironically, there isn't much point in card counting any more, the pit bosses now count too and order a shuffle up if the count gets too good for players.

I don't think #2 would be "easy". Kirk and Pike both seem able to defend themselves. And my biased opinion is that Lorca would win, unless they ganged up on him, which they might, because he's a Terran. But then again... Maybe the bright lights alone do him in.

Sisko probably wins, but not easily. ;)

Back when I was still playing, during the standard legal block of Time Spiral and Lorwyn, I created the name, the thread on the Magic discussion forum, and the first ever decklist for Red Deck Loses! (Pretty sure I can still remember the deck list, although it's been a while)

At the time, one of the dominant decks was Red Deck Wins, a supremely expensive deck that basically ran 4 of all the expensive red cards and raced you with aggressive creatures and some burn. The other decks of the day were slow blue control, splashed with other colors.

I created Red Deck Loses to both dominate the control matches, but also to out red Red Deck Wins, all in a deck that only cost $40 to assemble.

It beat the goldfish on turn 4.3 reliably, and was absolutely unable to be stopped by control, as it ran a ton of efficient burn, early creatures guaranteed to hit, and featured Grapeshot as a finisher off of a pretty good storm count. It just shrugged off counter spells, and could out race Red Deck Wins most times.

I posted the decklist to the forums expecting people to hate it since it had ZERO rares and was really cheap, but to my surprise people loved it! The idea of Red Deck Loses has changed over the years, but my friend tells me it is still "a thing" some ten years later!

    1. I played soccer from an early age, up into high school (I split time between left mid and left back). Once I was at university I helped pay my way through school (I had some money from scholarships, etc) by working in the dining hall, and in only 1 quarter I got promoted from a student worker to student manager (there were rules in place to make this impossible, but I was a transfer student so they waived the restriction). After graduation I stuck around working in the dining hall for reasons, and our lunch grill cook was the quarterback of our local semi-pro team, and he mentioned how their kicker had gotten in a car accident so they needed somebody to try out to replace him.

He convinced me to show up to practice, and after warm ups I met with the special teams coach and started doing drills when the original kicker showed up. I guess his accident wasn't that bad, so they ended up not needing a replacement kicker after all. Just to keep the practice moving smoothly they kept me around for another 45 minutes or so to run special teams drills with the other players by practicing onside kicks and a few punt returns, but after that was over they had me stick around to play offensive line during a scrimmage, so I spent the last 50 minutes or so of practice "blocking" this GIGANTIC Samoan dude who could swat me aside like I was a balloon (and I'm 6'3", 260 lbs if that helps you understand just how strong this guy was!). After practice I went home and never went back, but for a couple hours I was on the team!

Short answer: my username is an anagram of Robert Allen Zimmerman (sorry to be cheeky, but that is my stock answer :p ) and the name I've gone by online for a while now, although previously I've also been Binaural, Bytor, and OutlawTorn over these last few decades.

How I came upon the name though is a fun story. Hard to say exactly but I'd guess about 6 years ago I was convinced by a co-worker of my wife to play an online game called Travian, a real-time game of civilization building, raiding, combat, etc. (If you've ever played Travian you understand why I no longer play Travian!) and I had no clue what to name my cities, so I just started coming up with anagrams of my favorite bands/musicians. My starting city was named Jar Maple (Pearl Jam), but I also had others, including Bylo Band (Robert Allen Zimmerman), and afterward I realized that that was actually a pretty awesome name to use online, so I dropped all the Bytor, Binaural, OutlawTorn nonsense and have been Bylo Band ever since!
