  • Thank you Bitter Devil and everyone for sharing all those exploits. I must admit I went into the second phase to grab Geordi, fully fused him, crafted a couple of items, and then sent him out on a bunch of shuttles along with all the other mirror crew showing tidy bonuses so I don't seem to have the same display issues as other people. Perhaps it's the restart that's doing that?

    No it's not

I really would like a definitive answer... maybe using tests. I know that the bonus often doesn’t display (especially if the game restarts) and I know you still get the VP for shuttle missions opened prior to the end of phase 1 (I am still sending them now). Neither of these points are in question.

But there seems to be a lot of confusion and debate about whether the bonus still applies even if it doesn’t show. Anecdotally, having had this debate in our fleet before, and with an admittedly small sample size, it appears that you still get the bonus even if bonus does not show up on the screen or the % success rate given the actual success rate seems to mirror closer to the one you would expect with bonuses rather than the sub-50% success rate that the shuttles are showing on display. The low display rate is, of course, because I’m sending bonus characters with bad stats relative to crew with higher stats because I’m betting that the bonus still applies...

Anyone else have data on this?

My data corroborates this. As long as I make sure I hunt down the proper crew in the list, even though it appears they aren't the best suited, it does seem the bonuses still apply. I've had an 85-90% success on those shuttles, even though the percentages displayed are usually 40-65%.

I've dealt with this every hybrid event, I can't seem to go through one without the app restarting.

My experience in all hybrids (including last weeks) tends to support this as well. Success seems to be more around 80% rather than the sub 50% often displayed if you use bonus crew down the list rather than the big 5/5 or 4/4 non bonus crew at the top of the list... I’ve never been able to get past more than a few sets of shuttles before it resets and the bonus “disappears”.

My shuttles went 4/4 success rate when I sent them out with the bonus crew but the bonus not displayed. May not mean anything but it was surprising considering they were all at about 50%. Getting another round of shuttles back soon so we'll see how those ones do.

The bonus stays as long as you don’t start YOUR phase two. Still had mine 2 hours after phase two started. Always been like that as far as I can remember

Either this is not true or I'm getting screwed. I haven't started my phase two yet and I'm not getting the bonuses.

Neither am I on the second round of shuttles I just sent out, and I also didn't play any of Phase 2 yet. However, I did restart the game, which I think cancels out the bonuses.

Yes that will do it as well.

Wait I thought it was super weird that I failed ALL FOUR shuttles that went out before the switch but came in after. You're telling me it's because they sabotaged me?

Edit: I was passing all of them easily up until then, and I think these had percentages in the 90s when I sent them out.
  • It is extremely thin evidence, but I went 2 for 4 when using non-event, theoretically better, crew in bonus round 2. After Sisko's statement, I went with event crew and had displayed percentages of 40-45% for bonus round 3. I succeeded on 4 of 4. I am sufficiently convinced to have a new hybrid event strategy.
  • Three out of four successes. Plus VP. And I did it all wrong.

I think it's a perfectly valid and logical strategy that should exist. We've also talked about it often on here, so it's rather unlikely that DB doesn't know about it and at least tacitly condones it.

Faction events are (nearly?) always first in hybrids, and always provide WAY fewer of the total VP of the event. Not to mention you trap crew that could be used on the event in shuttles. Plus it gives the long term or big spending players a slight ROI since they're going to have the 5/5s to rival the event crews boosted stats.

And who knows, as things change in the war, there's always that lone wolf in the movie that sees the shift and is place behind enemy lines to make a difference or provide intel. Maybe one of our shuttles did the same?

Aside; here's where a fleet provides value again. Veterans being able to train up new recruits and impart their wisdom. We can all figure out these tactics, but it helps to have mentors too.

So, it's ok if they use legal loopholes to avoid being a gambling app, keep bugs that make players either lose gauntlets and voyages or make them pay in order to save them(and the list goes on) ...but it's not ok for us to use loopholes that cost them nothing?

I don't think there's anything wrong with using the loophole, hence why it's called a loophole. But I don't think that we as the player base have any right to complain when they realize and find a way to close the things we shouldn't have been able to do in the first place.

Yes, we do. Because little by little they are taking the strategy out of the game and making it a P2W. They aren't doing us any favors, because the only thing that we get for the money we're paying is a temporary enjoyment. We do not take place the ships on a mantle, we do not have a stack of cards in a drawer. If they close the game, they still have our money.
And when they blatantly use the "if they don't notice, keep it up" policy, we have every right to complain.

Dude, all events are P2W, have always been. It's the nature of mobile games. You can always spend money to speed up a shuttle, buy more tickets or buy the event crew in advance. It's amazing you've missed that before now.

As for this specific case, I did not see any issue. I plowed on regardless and succeeded for the most part. If they nerf it, it will be nerfed for everyone so I don't see how it affects anything. The nature of the event will not have changed.

That you somehow feel entitled to an advantage is what's causing your outburst here. You should probably just stop playing the game if a small inconsequential thing upsets you so much, and please don't bother the rest of us with your whinging.

As I said...ad hominem is the best you guys can do.

It's not one inconsequential thing...there are many, too many...and you accept them as normal things, fact which baffles me. You accept everything a corporation tells you without question. Even when they admited that packs were broken, you guys accepted that it was a one time thing. Really, how can you be so naive? And about your overuse of the "entitled" word, you don't even know it's meaning. WHEN YOU PAY FOR A THING YOU ARE ACTUALLY ENTITLED TO THAT THING!
And i'm bothering you? Who forces you to read this? It's your own logic "if you don't like it, don't do it"...take your own "advice".
  • ThurthoradThurthorad ✭✭✭✭✭
I can do ad hominem as well as make salient and pertinant arguments all of which you just chose to ignore.

We don't accept wthout question, many of the people who have engaged with you have made their own complaints, myself included. We just think your complaint is baseless and without merit and that you exhibit fundamental misunderstandings of how the events work.

Essentially this is a user error and if you cannot see that then you are the problem. Take that as an ad hominem if you wish, but it is the unfortunately the case in this instance.

No...I got it...if something doesn't bother you, it should not bother anyone. And if it does, they must be entitled and whiners...

A P2W player will have a much easier time using this strategy than anyone else. Sure we can all try to 20 shuttles out but a P2W player will have more boosts and better crew. You're not getting the advantage you think you're getting.

It's like the chroniton offers during galaxy event. Many people use them which negates the advantage it advertises. But people who do not use it are at a disadvantage.

The number of extra shuttles you can send in P2 is finite. The number of chron offers or additional sources of chrons (free or paid) are somewhat more substantial. Galaxy's are also more strategic in gameplay, you can plan in advance for them.
