Alright, it's time to solve the Fully Fused BEHOLD problem.

It's happening way too often now, for lots of players.

As I've said in the past, there's an easy way to improve things:

A button, displayed on every behold, that lets you shuffle and get a new set ONCE. If they can't edit the game code to make it only show up on fully fused beholds, then let's just stick it there every time. Make it a standard feature of a Behold. You get one shuffle. That's all. And it's a ONE WAY TRIP, no going back to the first page. If you get another set of FF'd characters, bad luck for you.

This solution is, for lack of a better word, fairly conservative from DB's perspective. What I mean is that it doesn't hurt them that much. Effectively, it turns every Behold into two chances of getting someone you want.

This problem is only going to get worse. Please, DB, think about this.

I just hit Captain Level 69, and I'm now in this club -- where super rare beholds are often a set of three crew I have immortalized. It's very frustrating, as the main thing I spend is not money, but time. If I'm going to have to spend an inordinate amount of time to continue progressing, and my rate of progress is now going to slow, my interest in playing will also wane.
    Fleet: Starship Trista
    Captain Level: 95
    VIP Level: 12
    Unique Crew Immortalized: 525
Collections Completed: Vulcan, Ferengi, Borg, Romulan, Cardassian, Uncommon, Rare, Veteran, Common, Engineered, Physician, Innovator, Inspiring, Diplomat, Jury Rigger, Gauntlet Legends
  • Agreed.
Approximately 90% of even my LEGENDARY beholds are already fully fused at this point in the game.
A re-roll would certainly help the redundancy problem.

Just had 4!! All immo Leg beholds 2 days ago. Yes it hurts.

I even would pay dilithium for a 1x shuffle option. Lets say 100?

  • I’m with you on this one! At least for legendaries, seems I have a greater than 50% chance of getting a FF Gold behold now...
Come join our fleet! We're a great social group that helps each other. You play the way you want to, participate as much as you want and if you want to be competitive, you can be! Check out our fleet ad. Run, don't walk, to Quark's Holosuite!

    Immortalized: 140 x 5*, 221 x 4*, 74 x 3*, 47 x 2*, 27 x 1*
  • Bought the 10 for £10 monday pack last week, 6x4* beholds 4 of which were all 3 immortalised, just makes me not want to spend any more money, I would be especially angry if this happened to a 5* behold. disappointed with the CS reply of 'tough luck'.

The last 10x10 had 12 4* beholds for me. 100% honor. And no 5* btw.
Only useful stuff was 100 schematics...
Why do I even buy this...?
  • GhostStalkerGhostStalker ✭✭✭✭✭
Guys, it didn't even occur to me that they would charge for the feature I suggested. I'm such a socialist!

Let's assume I meant it's free. But you only get it once. We can't have people paying to keep rolling.
  • This seems like a very reasonable stopgap that would not be that difficult to implement. At least having a shot at 6 characters would make me feel like I've had a fairer shot at someone I could use.

Thank you, I'm nothing if not reasonable.
  • A refresh on 5* Beholds that one already has immortalized is reasonable. A 4* refresh...? Meh.

Personally I'd want it on 4* too. I'm getting close to not buying 10 packs anymore which would bring my spending to 0. I'm sure I'm not alone. I only have 2 5* FF so that's not an issue yet.
Sir, I protest! I am NOT a merry man!

My first all choices ff purple behild was infuriating. Im less than a millimeter from hitting lvl 70 and now it isnt surprising. Heck when i dont see a purple straight drop in the first slot of a pack i think ''oh boy here comes a choice of 200 honor, 200 honor, or 200 honor!" If i get a gold behold im pleasantly excited, and if i get a purple behold with actually one choice not ff or immortilized, i go into shock!

As the OP said - a conservative approach, so in case DB should implement something like that no harm done and I would enjoy it 2 :) Some things have to be kept in mind though:

In a card collection game like this in time dublicates are the most normal thing in the world. Especially with those cards who have a high droprate. Aka up to 4*. Also since they even drop in Voyages.

Personally I don´t see it too gloomy. Sure, there are some cards I don´t even want one copy of :p But:

Let´s say you are a fan of a certain character. And in a shuttle event the coolest and strongest version of that character will be introduced.

The more variants AND COPIES you have the better your chances in that event.

Also I surely would not mind FF second copies of FO Burnham, Durango Troi, Dr. Culber or Zhian'tara Odo for example.

Aka cards with a strong base and in the case of Zhian'tara Odo helpful in both Odo and Dax events.

And finally sometimes the most desired card is basically only a copy of another card in new clothes anyway. Like say Captain Killy was of EV Suit Archer.

P.S.: Would like a shuffle button for the monday offers even more B)
  • Having had my first all immortal SR behold some weeks ago, I can relate to the hurt feelings. But then again, it also hurts when you get a straight drop of an immortalized SR. It's simply a fact that is common to all CCGs. There are always going to be those elusive cards, and you'll have to buy many many packs to finally get them.

In the mean time, I'm trying to reduce the chance of getting an SR behold by not FFing characters if I get a behold if I have a choice, but instead adding stars to 1/4 or 2/4 crew, or even adding an entirely new crew.

The only reason DB should consider fixing this "problem", is when it hurts their sales, imho.

It's a big issue. Here are some of the useless Beholds I've had in the past month alone — note that this is not even all of them, as sometimes I don't screenshot the "all-Honor" Beholds because I'm just too disgusted with seeing them coming up yet again.

Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

The CCG analogy is flawed. If I buy cards in my local store I can trade them with people there or my mates, so we can much more cheaply get what we want. You cannot do that here,

Furthermore, digital CCGs like Elder Scrolls and Hearthstone allow you to trade with the house at a far more reasonable rate than DB do.

So if a trading option were implemented, it would take your concerns away?

I mean in all seriousness, with the rate at which I encounter all immortal beholds, my reshuffle would probably also be one.

But doubling your chances is still doubling your chances. That's why I've suggested this... It's a step DB can take that I TRULY believe will encourage more people to risk buying packs while still not cutting out of their profit margin. I think it will help sales.

And like I said, the problem is only getting worse, DB.

I had a double SR behold in a event pack, both were already FF. There are a few ways to solve this issue. 1) give the offer of a citation if they are all FF, 2) allow us to re-roll, 3) increase the portal pool

3 would be quite easy to implement as they don't need to do much beyond alter the drop table, 1 and 2 are a little contentious as they make money from suckers buying packs to try and FF them all.

marko says it all. it **tsk tsk** we all know this but as we acuire more crew it will happen more often.

the biggest problem is it seems that a portion of the player base forgets db is a business and needs to make money and this game is one of the more expensive games to run. the reason for that is it is a trademark type game. they pay CBS and gene rodenbarry to use the star trek tm . they also pay every actor or their estate to use their likeness for each and every card and each and every time they use their voice. all of this adds up to a lot of money. so they need to make it back.

right wrong or indeferent we will probably never get a behold fix that we want because it will eventually lead to lower cash flow which would inhibit either new cards or new content and that would be the end of the game.
  • I agree something needs to be done, but in my opinion the solution is to add a check to ensure we always get at least one useful card in any pull or behold.

You want us to buy these things, right? I get so little from my free pulls that there's no way I'd ever spend money on them. I'm fine playing this game without spending anything, are you?

It's a little difficult for Gene to get paid given he hasn't been with us for over 25 years now. ;)
