By far, anti time future picard. Anything and everything we can get from "All good things..." I'm happy with. Easily the best finale in all of Star Trek, and one of the best finales in all of TV history.

It was interesting, but in this history of TV Finales, I'd doubt it would make top 50.

It has regularly made "Best Series Finales of all Time" lists, so I don't agree, though I am strongly biased in its favor. At the very least it stands as a worthy mention among great TV finales.

Considering they list the Newhart one as #1, they've definitely got a damn odd sense, since it was a simple gimmick at the end. Enjoyable, but if that's the 'best' damn.

Of course they omit such non-mainstream jaw dropping finales as Farscape. Or succinct ends such as Babylon 5. All in the Family's character break.

This thing alone Poker Game End = Anti-climax worse than Voyager blowing out of a Sphere.
  • Here's how I think of all the "costume change" characters who are basically the same person as each other: the actions and clothing they are displaying are figurative, and the cards really represent different "narrative modes" of the character. So Mambo Picard is Picard the dashing and romantic hero, Enterprise E Picard is Picard the veteran Captain who's been through everything, and Tommy Gun Dixon is Picard the mess of PTSD who is nonetheless to unpredictable to underestimate. From the series era, Galen is Picard the science superspy ( like you see not just in the episode he wears those clothes, but also in, say, Chain of Command part I), Dixon Hill is Picard when he has to solve a mystery, and Robin Hood is Picard as a swashbuckling action hero, like in Starship Mine. Enterprise D Picard is the version you get in an episode that is really all about Riker or Data--- commanding and respected, but a little bit of a generic Starfleet captain because he's just a supporting character in this one. In fact, that's why the most iconic and representive versions of most characters are their least powerful cards and higher rarity ones are more specific.

Smitten Picard is still kind of dumb, though.

So best episode. The future Picard goes to the spot where the anomaly is suppose to be but it is not there. The anomaly is growing backwards in time. Picard blew it . He was too late. He has to go backward in time with his future version to find it. What did they do in episode, he goes in his future to the spot and this time it is there?? Or he creates it with that pulse done from all time zones. Problem: if anomaly was not there in his future's version past it could not be there in any time zone he was in.

I cannot decide which version of Picard. Might be Farmer Picard.

Reasons to like the episode the jumping around to different times with Picard and the Enterprise. If they had done it properly, I still would not like the fact the problem does not exist until, all Picards and Enterpises create it. Or in other words, until Q creates it. Making this a by his bootstraps episode.

Edit: I think the episode could have been great if when picards future self did not find it. Picards future self first gets there he has to find the anomaly. After which all the time zones next step is to emit the pulse that creates the anomaly. He and all the other time zones then do the pulse that creates it. Then of course they do the ending which fixed it. But the final scene should be Picard talking to Q, telling him if he did not make him(Picard) jump through the different time zones the anomaly would never been created. Then also tell Q, again his(Q) muddling in our affairs has put all life at risk. And to end, with stay out of our affairs. Would be a nice, tie in with the beginning episode.

I missed Q's final speech. Okay I will stop watching you (us watching the TV episodes) But, I will see what you are up to from time to time (us watching the movies)

Q had been created as metaphor for us the audience judging TNG. This ending would be fitting.

Last edit: Just thought of one last scene. Q talks to us, "I hope you enjoyed this glimpse of you future. But as you saw I was just kicked out. So from time to time I will send some more glimpses but these will be limited to you movie theaters."

Might be too much, but could be neat.

    Definitely last edit:
I can picture that last scene Q looking at us snapping his fingers we get the screen going in to blackness with that special effect a star like burst used sometimes for Q's appearance into a scene and out of scenes.
Blackness for a second or two then the TNG closing credits, music, and graphics. Which I always felt was the best closing of the Star Treks.
