555 means FF/FE actually cryo'd in freezer row
    Yes.
101-200 means not FF... so a 1/4 level 10 Captain Janeway would be 110 in freezer row?
Yes. It's certainly possible to play with numbers more to differentiate 1/4, 3/4, 2/5 and so on, but honestly too much hassle.
And if she was FF she would be 10 in freezer row? If she was 70 or above then in active row as the actual level like if she was 96 put 96 in active row?
    Yes and yes.
EDIT: If a crew was 100 then that would mean it was FF/FE but you are choosing not to freeze?
Yes, cadets and best crew that you use all the time.
  • My confusion is that I am trying to identify characters that I can level specifically to freeze them and free up crew slots. I only fill in the crew that are FFFE. So I expect that any crew that is blank and marked as space should be a good candidate for this. However, I levelled Drone Seven of Nine and find that she has my second highest base for engineering. She doesn't seem like a good candidate for airlocking. Any ideas why this is occurring?

You should go back and read the disclaimer as it explains everything reasonably well. Basically it auto assumes anything you make active list wise is max level and max fused so will suggest airlocking crew if certain standards are met. It doesn't go this crew is the 13th best or whatever ranking at this skill so you shouldn't airlock it.

Incidentally, this suggests a possible feature request: add a third column for active but not FF/FE (so the columns might be "Active", "Imm'd", and "Cryo'd", where "Imm'd" serves the same purpose as "Active" currently does). The only different behavior between "Active" and "Imm'd" is that crew that aren't immortalized would show the text in the "Why do I need this crew?" column.
You could essentially achieve the same by manually adding an empty column. With a column not tied to any logic, you could also keep a list of crew that you have non-FF/FE'd, without it affecting the rest of the sheet.

Given that the logic that removes requirements from other crew is also the same logic that removes those requirements from the crew marked as 'Active', it would not be simple to keep the list for the 'Active' crew, but remove it for the others. It could be done by duplicating the logic and keeping two copies of the list, but it would decrease the performance of the sheet for (in my opinion) not all that much gain.

It's wonderfully easy to see what you can do, what you can't, who you need to level and why and pretty easy to sort and impossible to mistake actually freezed crew with active but underleveled/underfused one.
    This is pretty creative; kudos!

Actually, a fairly recent addition is that it does pretty much exactly that ;)

The sheet would occasionally suggest airlocking/freezing crew whose requirements were all completed, even if they were actually your best crew for a particular skill. To avoid that, the sheet keeps top lists of the 4 best crew (by default, see 'Advanced Settings' tab to change) for each skill base and max values, and it will not suggest to airlock/freeze these.

As long as you do not have the crew marked as 'Active', the sheet will list them as 'Space', since you do not need them for anything and do not necessarily need to get and level them. If you do that anyway, the sheet will basically say "well, now that you do have them and they are among your best crew, probably best to keep them around". Which is what happened in this case to Captain Song and his Drone Seven of Nine.

If you get a couple of higher-ranking crew for Engineering and she drops out of the top 4, the sheet will consider her safe for airlocking/freezing again.

I entered all my crew as al103 suggested. Thanks for the great idea!

Is there any way to know what cadets I need to keep? I have nodes I can't clear because I don't have cadets at a high enough skill yet. Data is my highest cadet in ENG and it is telling me to space/freeze. He is FF/FE but some of my cadets are not. I removed each one that was not FF/FE one at a time to see which was higher than Data. It never said I should keep him. Am I missing something? Is it figuring you will just bring him out when needed for a cadet mission? He is active.

There are only 3 entries for cadet missions. None are completed.

Anyway thanks for this great tool!

List uses "optimal cadet combination" for minimum amount of crew slots which Data is not part of.

List also do NOT care about critting cadet nodes besides three listed as far as I know, you need to check that manually.

You may not want to freeze him anyway as at least for me he's 3rd highest Base Eng and list check only *** and higher for that IIRC.

    PS. About keeping cadets:
    https://forums.disruptorbeam.com/stt/viewthread/52354

Only Bones don't crit any more, Crusher with starbase does.
  • Yes I use Data for stuff other than the cadet missions. Thanks for the link. I knew that Bones was supposed to work but stopped working. What is Crusher with starbase?

Yes I thought maybe it wasn't checking 2 and 1 star but I don't understand all the terms yet. I wasn't for sure what this meant "This setting controls whether the sheet uses the various requirements 'SEC 3* Base', 'DIP 4* Max', and so on."

One of the main reasons I wanted a list like this was to know what to do with the cadets.
  • LeshyLeshy ✭✭✭
    What is Crusher with starbase?
Fleets can build starbases that give bonuses when upgraded. One of these bonuses is an up to 5% increased base MED skill for your crew, which al103 says would allow Crusher to hit the 480 needed to crit the mission.

However, I believe that the 5% base increase still has her come up just short of the needed 480 to crit on a max roll. I might be wrong about this, though.
I wasn't for sure what this meant "This setting controls whether the sheet uses the various requirements 'SEC 3* Base', 'DIP 4* Max', and so on."
I have tried to clarify the wording a bit in the new version.

The sheet shows what crew have the highest base skills, as well as the highest maximum skill rolls (so highest base Medicine, or highest maximum Security roll, and so on). It shows this for 3*, 4* and 5* crew, allowing you to see what crew are best for a certain skill.

That particular setting allows you to turn these requirements off individually, so that if you have a several great 5* Engineering guys, the sheet can stop telling you that you need some 4* crew because they are good at Engineering.

On a separate note, 1.74 is now out. A small update which just adds the latest added Discovery crew. Enjoy!

If we're talking about the second MED node in "No Man Left Behind" in Ex Astris, Scientia, a recent change modified that node's trait bonus from "Resourceful" to "Federation". FF/FE CMO Crusher can now crit that node readily, even without starbase bonus.

Annoying minor mistake. It's "Dr Phlox" and NOT "Dr. Phlox". That "." really annoying in search attempts.
  • Mithiwithi wrote: »
I don't get how the sheet is telling me what crew to use my trainers on when I am not supposed to mark that I have that crew unless they are immortalized.

The way I use the sheet is, I mark all crew I have at all as "Active" (or "Cryo'd" if applicable), even if they aren't yet level 100. Any crew that then show up as dark green "Active" in the Status column are my priority for leveling, with top priority going to the ones that show as being able to pass a node on the Missions tab.

This also helps me decide which crew to pick in a Behold, if the crew isn't fully fused yet.

When I save a new sheet I add such a row - so I have ACTIVE, CRYO and STATUS - in status row I put all my crew of whatever level marked as 1/4 or 3/5 or whatever - and only copy them into active when I have chosen to focus on them or I know that I will in the future and they aren't headed for the airlock. That seems to work pretty well for me.

Ah, I was not aware of that, good to know. The whole mission can then be removed from the sheet, as CMO Crusher is part of the recommended crew roster anyway.

Thanks, will fix. The use of titles in the game is pretty inconsistent - it is Lt. Ash Tyler, and Saru is a Lieutenant Commander, while Data is a Lt Commander.

  • Would it be possible to have the "why do I still need this crew" column show the reason for Active crew in addition to still-needed crew? It'd be nice to know why I'm keeping one over another. I too use the active column as more of a current non-immortalized roster than its intended use.

I would also like to know how to brighten the green of the names of 2-star crew, if possible. I find it to be so dark as to mistake it for the gray of 1-star crew, and frequently have to refer to the star column to tell what rarity they are. I'm still pretty new at the game so I don't know everyone's rarity by name yet.

    I really like this suggestion.

It would help to figure out what lingering missions to target (I'm always short chrons given the number of Galaxy events, so I wait until nothing is going on and I'm not actively leveling crew to go back and find what new missions I can complete).

Would also help to remind us which Active crew to use for shuttles vs gauntlet, etc.

Is it possible for sheet to stop suggesting replacing Saru + Seven with Pazlar? Additional crew space is fine, but not necessary end of everything critical *punts Pazlar in freezer*.

I'm having a quite similar issue where it's telling me to space my Lt. Yar even though that's the only female cadet I have with security.

I've only started using the tool so for right now I only have the crew that are Lvl 100 FF//FE entered and that's basically only my cadets. I'm wondering if the low numbers are somehow confusing the spreadsheet.

Thanks for all your crazy hard work!

I'm using Yar/Worf and I dont have either Kira or Persis, so there's no reason it should be telling me to space Yar without something better to replace it -- unless I'm reading it improperly

Yeah. That's definitely should be bug.

First Officer Saru shows needed for SCI 4* Base and Sci 4* max.. Reinforcements Staments shows need for Sci 4* Base.. even if I mark one as active the other still shows needed for Sci 4* Base.

Saw this before with Princess Jadzia, who, consequently, still shows needed for 4* Base if if mark her as not active even while the two above are marked active.

In short, Sci 4* Base isn't being correctly 'completed' when marked as active on a char.

I have already tried to implement this request, but it is actually quite a bit more tricky to do than it seems at first glance. Getting the requirements to show up on Active crew is not that difficult, but it leads to several other issues that actually make the sheet and overview a good bit more confusing.

Until I can find a good way of implementing this that does not add hugely to the complexity of the sheet, it will stay on the 'to do' list.
I would also like to know how to brighten the green of the names of 2-star crew, if possible
If you right-click anywhere on the sheet and select 'Conditional Formatting', a column will show up on the right hand side with the formulas that colour the crew names. If you click the one for the 2* crew with the green colour (formula =$E2=2), you will be able to change the colour there to what you would like it to be.

In short, Sci 4* Base isn't being correctly 'completed' when marked as active on a char.
These types of requirements are not completed until you have several crew for that requirement (3 for the 'Base' requirements, 2 for the 'Max' requirements). They indicate the best crew for certain skills in each rarity, and you will generally need/want to have several of those, not just one.

Regarding the cadet challenges, these are also a bit of an issue. The cadet challenge requirements are not calculated like the other requirements, but the sheet uses the fixed list of the best cadets that were presumably identified in the forum thread when the was first created: Worf, Picard, Leeta, Kira/Persis, Crusher, Kes, Sito Jaxa, Pazlar, and Seska/Naomi.

Yar should indeed be on the list too, so I will add her as alternative to Kira/Persis. Likewise, the new Festive Jadzia can be added as an alternative for Pazlar. I would ideally also add Gaia Odo, but he presents a difficulty as Diplomacy then specifically requires OR Gaia Odo + Ensign Sato, OR Enterprise-D Picard + Dabo Girl Leeta. It becomes nigh impossible to make a recommendation for individual characters in that case, since whether you need them depends on what other ones you have.

I have thought about scrapping the hardcoded system and calculating it dynamically, but that involves replacing ~4,000 very simple formulas with ~18,000 more complex ones, which is not exactly going to do wonders for the speed of the sheet either.

I do: just a few minutes ago, in fact! Festive Jadzia Dax, Sarek and Harcourt Fenton Mudd are now in.

I have also reviewed the Cadet Roster, and it should now be up-to-date with the newest 2* crew in, as far as they are needed. I also had a moment of inspiration and realised how to work the various possibilities for the Diplomacy cadets in, so Gaia Odo is now also on the Cadet Roster as he should be. The sheet should now recommend the following for the the regular cadet challenges:

CMD: Cadet Sito Jaxa / Ensign Ro
DIP: Enterprise-D Picard + Dabo Girl Leeta / Ensign Sato + Dabo Girl Leeta / Gaia Odo + Ensign Sato
SEC: Security Chief Worf + Major Kira / Lt Tasha Yar / Persis
ENG: Lt Naomi Wildman / Ensign Seska
SCI: Festive Jadzia Dax / Ensign Pazlar
MED: CMO Crusher + Nurse Kes
